  • Jim Allen charges Erika Harold with being a RINO. I disagree. Does Allen claim to be conservative? – Dave Diersen

    http://www.gopillinois.com

(THE ARTICLE: In his email to Doug Ibendahl, former Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman and Rodney Davis Team Member Jim Allen charged Erika Harold with being a RINO, that is, a Republican In Name Only. I disagree. According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republican_In_Name_Only), RINO “is a pejorative term used by conservative members of the Republican Party of the United States to describe Republicans whose political views or actions they consider insufficiently conservative or otherwise not conforming to their conservative position. The acronym RINO, emerging in the 1990s, is a charge used in campaigns by Republican conservatives against party moderates.” Dan Proft, Erika, and I were on Pat O’Malley’s 2002 Republican gubernatorial primary team. I challenge Allen and his current and former supporters to substantiate Allen’s charge. What planks in the Republican Party and/or the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platforms can they show that Harold rejects? Does Allen claim to be conservative? One could argue that only those who claim to be conservative charge others with being a RINO. Did Allen use the term RINO to paint himself as being conservative? Or, does Allen have his own definition for the term RINO? In Allen’s mind, does RINO mean someone who is NOT an operative or a dupe for whoever has the most political clout? For example, would Allen say that anyone who is not an operative or a dupe for Davis is a RINO? Would Allen call me a RINO? I support all the planks in the Republican Party and IRP platforms. I am NOT an operative or a dupe for anyone.)

  • How successful have the Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs been in “winning over” voters in your precinct? – Dave Diersen

    http://www.gopillinois.com

(THE ARTICLE: Yesterday evening, I spoke at length with a voter in my precinct who I had not had the opportunity to speak with for a long time. He and his wife had enthusiastically allowed me to display 4X4 Bush/Cheney signs in front of their home in 2000 and 2004. But during my conversation with him yesterday evening, he repeated virtually every bit of advice that Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs have given Republicans, basically, to dump the Republican Party platform. However, he made it clear that he wanted Republican Party to keep the fiscal planks in its platform. He repeated virtually all the arguments that Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs make including that voters increasingly want government assistance, sex, abortion, homosexual activity, amnesty, mass immigration, pot, etc. He argued that because that is what the voters want, that is what Republicans should give the voters. How successful have the Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs been in “winning over” voters in your precinct? Ever since I became the DuPage County Milton Township Precinct 9 Committeeman in 1999, Democrats and Democrat plants, Libertarians and Libertarian plants, Greens and Green plants, and RINOs in the Milton Township Republican Central Committee have worked very hard to “win over” voters in my precinct. How hard have they worked to “win over” voters in your precinct?)

SPRINGFIELD STATE JOURNAL REGISTER

  • Davis: ‘Deplorable’ email is wakeup call – Bernard Schoenburg1

(FROM THE ARTICLE: U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, said Friday “deplorable” comments that a former central Illinois GOP official wrote about Davis’ primary opponent were unlike anything he’d heard from that official before. “The good news is, he’s no longer county chairman,” Davis said of Jim Allen, who resigned as head of the Montgomery County GOP Thursday after an email he wrote criticizing Erika Harold of Urbana was made public Wednesday by the Republican News Watch website, where it was labeled as racist. “I’ve known Jim for years, and I have never heard any of the language that was written on the email spoken to me,” Davis said. “The whole thing was a surprise.” Davis and other Republican officials had called for Allen to step down after disclosure of the email. In it, Allen had referred to Harold, 33, the 2003 Miss America who is black and a Harvard Law School graduate and Urbana native, as “Little Queenie” and someone being used “like a streetwalker” by the “Democrat Party” and “RINO (Republican in name only) Republicans.” It said that after she loses to Davis, she will be “working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires.” “As a father of a 16-year-old daughter, (if) any of the terminology that was used in that email was … sent to my daughter, I would be as mad as any father should be,” Davis said Friday at a news conference on another subject at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. “This is an opportunity to remind folks that we cannot, as a community … accept any language that was utilized in there. It’s unacceptable. It’s deplorable. It’s appalling. It’s wrong.” Asked if the controversy would have an effect on his run for re-election, Davis said, “I’m not worried about my campaign here,” but instead wants to address problems he was elected in 2012 to solve. While he has not talked to Harold since the email was released, he said, the two know each other as each vied to be named to the 13th Congressional District ballot last year. “We have a mutual respect for each other,” Davis said. “She knows that I would never, ever say something like what was in that email.” The “Ballot Box” blog on the website of the publication The Hill reported that ShePAC, a group that supports Republican women, had emailed supporters with a fundraising request for Harold based on the attack from Allen. The request said Harold “is suffering a brutally sexist and racist attack … from within our own party.”)

THE BLAZE

  • ‘Racist Rant’: Read the Fiery Email an Illinois GOP Leader Sent Targeting former Miss America Running as a Republican – Billy Hallowell2

(FROM THE ARTICLE: There’s a battle brewing in Montgomery County, Illinois, where Republican Party chairman Jim Allen recently sent a controversial e-mail to a blogger in an effort to target Erika Harold, a former Miss America who is running for Congress. The message, which was sent to Doug Ibendahl, an attorney who was general counsel to the Illinois GOP from 1999 through 2001, is sparking quite a bit of controversy – particularly because of Allen’s mention of minority quotas (Harold is an African American). The e-mail overwhelmingly focuses on the notion that the former beauty queen simply isn’t conservative enough, as Allen charges that she is a RINO (Republican in Name Only). Noting that Harold is going up against Rep. Rodney Davis in the primary, the GOP chairman makes it more-than-clear that he is patently against her candidacy. “Rodney Davis will win’ the primary against Erika Harold and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in S**tcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires,” the e-mail read. “The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on.” Allen went on to say that Harold is “being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS.” Here’s the e-mail in its entirety, as published on Republican News Watch, Ibendahl’s website: Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in Shitcago by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires. The truth is Nancy Pelosi and the DEMOCRAT party want this seat. So they called RINO Timmy Johnson to be their pack mule and get little queen to run. Ann Callis gets a free ride through a primary and Rodney Davis has a battle. The little queen touts her abstinence and she won the crown because she got bullied in school,,,boohoo..kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on..Now, miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS…These pimps want something they can’t get,,, the seat held by a conservative REPUBLICAN Rodney Davis and Nancy Pelosi can’t stand it..Little Queenie and Nancy Pelosi have so much in common but the one thing that stands out the most.. both are FORMER QUEENS, their crowns are tarnished and time has run out on the both of them. In discussing the issue on his website, Ibendahl noted that this e-mail is evidence, in his view, of why Republicans continue to lose elections, describing Allen’s collective words as a “racist rant.” Considering the GOP’s demographic challenges, particularly among minorities, the lawyer notes that this incident isn’t helpful to bridging divides and creating electoral success. “Outrageous comments like those of Jim Allen are why we as Republicans fail to gain any respect from minority voters,” Ibendahl said of the e-mail. “If officials in my party (the Republican Party) fail to understand how destructive it is to attack an impressive person like Erika Harold merely because she dares to challenge the good-old-boys, the GOP will remain a losing party for decades.”)

CHICAGO DEFENDER

  • Illinois Republican Refers To Black Female Candidate As ‘Streetwalker’ – Roz Edward3

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republicans land themselves a former Miss America, Harvard Law-educated Black female candidate, and what does one of their own do? Dismiss her as the “love child” of the Democratic party and a “street walker” whose “pimps” are party leaders. Worse, Montgomery County GOP Chairman Jim Allen said that after the election, Erika Harold (pictured) will find herself “working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires.” Well, not if Abigail Fisher has her way. In any event, again, this a Republican bashing another Republican. While Harold is seeking the GOP nomination for the 13th Congressional District of Illinois, Allen made the comments in response to a gushing column about Harold and the potential of her candidacy. Doug Ibendahl wrote: If Erika Harold prevails, she would become the first female African-American Republican congressman in American history. There have been Black male Republican congressmen, but never a Black woman on the GOP side from any state. (Harold’s diverse background also includes Native-American ancestry.) It would be wrong to focus only on race and gender. Harold is a Rock Star candidate who just happens to be a Black woman. Still, given the huge problem the GOP is having everywhere with minority outreach, Harold’s ability to lead on brand repair cannot be ignored. Even though Ibendahl is spot on, Allen got riled up something terrible: Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in S-cago [Expletive deleted] by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires,” Allen wrote in the e-mail. . . . Miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS. Dumb *ss thy name is Jim Allen. The Republican Party will not survive in the coming decades if it continues to reject symbols of inclusiveness. Obviously, Allen is a supporter of Harold’s opponent, Rodney Davis, though the Davis campaign swiftly created distance between their candidate and Allen. In an e-mail statement, Davis spokesman Andrew Flach said: Mr. Allen’s comments are misguided and wrong and certainly do not reflect the views of Congressman Davis or his campaign. Our hope is that supporters for all of the candidates conduct themselves in a positive manner and focus on the issues facing our country as the campaign moves forward. As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch explains the “episode is an illustration of the unusual state of the GOP in Illinois, where the party tends to fight with itself more than it does with the ruling Democrats.” It couldn’t have come at a worse time, though. Republicans are trying desperately to shake the image as the anti-woman, anti-gay, anti-Black, anti-immigration…okay, anti anyone who isn’t a White male millionaire into missionary. And now this ugly incident has been exposed nationally – furthering highlighting just how *ss backward and counterproductive many hard line conservatives remain – good luck on finding more people of color and women to run on the right side of the aisle. And congratulations on becoming a national embarrassment, Jim Allen.)

ILLINOIS REVIEW

  • Robling: Erika Harold for Attorney General4

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Long before former Montgomery County GOP chair Jim Allen’s unconscionable reaction to Erika Harold’s Congressional campaign, I thought Ms. Harold would do better for herself and Illinois if she ran for Attorney General. Now I am convinced. The Attorney General is the attorney for all Illinoisans. The occupant of the office has plenary authority to defend and advance the interests of all Illinoisans. She has access to the courts, issues advisory opinions and physically manages a variety of functions, such as consumer protection, the Illinois freedom of information act and open meetings act. All Illinois charitable trusts report to the Attorney General, and the A.G. regulates their activities on a non-partisan basis. Most significantly, the Illinois Attorney General has a very significant law enforcement role, sometimes in prosecutions, but always in appellate proceedings. The Attorney General’s office is an official platform to enunciate a better Illinois and pursue it through statutory and legal means. One ought not think we need Oliver Wendell Holmes for the job. The current occupant of the office had scant legal distinction or experience — far less than Ms. Harold’s — upon swearing in. Some states, in their wisdom, vest the authority to appoint the Attorney General in their Governor, as part of the Governor’s chief executive role. Illinois went the other way. We elect two officeholders with independent authority to look out for all of us, as they see fit. Our other statewide state officials have limited and specific mandates. So, what of Erika Harold? When one puts “Harvard Law School graduate” and “Miss America” together in one sentence, one describes a national figure. She is brilliant, determined and articulate. That she identifies herself as a Republican is great news for our side. But most important for every Illinoisan, from Golconda, to Lawndale and on out to Galena, is that she is a reformer. What does that mean? I will tell you what she is not. She is not part of the combine. She is not part of Springfield. She is not part of the establishment. She is INDEPENDENT and capable. When independent and capable people of good will confront the Gordian Knot of Illinois government, they reform. Such people do not settle, or concede, or explain, or tergiversate, or nibble at the edges. Imbued with determination, they say, “I will make this better for the people of Illinois,” and they do. [Frankly, every Illinois Republican Gubernatorial candidate should be soliciting Ms. Harold's views and asking for her insights and hoping, hoping, hoping she would be impressed enough by them to run as Lieutenant Governor, and hoping further she overlooks the point that Representative David McSweeney, brilliantly, has filed a terrific bill to do away with the execrable office.] Independence and capability are key to reform. If you believe, as I do, that the whole of Illinois state government is irredeemably corrupted, and that wholesale, soup-to-nuts, top-to-bottom, you-name-it, firings, rebuildings, re-structurings, re-inventions, etc. are immediately needed to unburden the taxpayer and benefit the beneficiary, then you cannot believe we need enablers and codependents of the current rancidity to achieve any important position. The divide is between then and now, was and is, today and our tomorrows. What was then is what we are stuck with today. It’s imploding before our eyes. We must work now for all our tomorrows to build a structure that uses far fewer resources to do all that we need at a lower price. We must stop the growth of Illinois government because we cannot afford it as it is, and because it is manifestly failing at all that it says it is doing, and because government is not the answer, government, as when Ronald Reagan took office, is the problem. I do not know Ms. Harold, and i have never even shaken her hand. But I know she is articulate enough to go on national TV and become Miss America. To me, that puts her above 99.99 percent of current Illinois Republicans. I know that she got into and out of Harvard Law School — each of which tasks require considerable resourcefulness. I know she is a practicing attorney, which means she can empathize with clients and use professional skills to win a just outcome. I know she is a Republican, which means she believes in open, efficient, effective and LIMITED government that puts the liberty and the real net family disposable incomes of our fellow Illinoisans first, not the interests of unions, or insiders, or secret understandings with the other side of the aisle, or concern over “how Mike feels about me, personally.” She sounds like a perfect reform Illinois Attorney General to me. Importantly, respect also should be paid to Rodney Davis, another Illinois gopper I have never even met. Congressman Davis has already made impressive strides in Washington, D.C. He is effective in that realm and performing better than his Freshman class. As one who ran a campaign that defeated an incumbent Republican member of the U.S. House, I take such steps very seriously and generally advise against them; take from the other party first — sort the intra-party later. I do not question Ms. Harold’s right to run, but I encourage her view today of the brilliant and beautiful Illinois landscape, grander than their Congressional district, from Wabash River to Sinsinawa: It needs you both. We need you. We need independence and capability, perhaps even more than any of us know. We need Erika Harold as the 2014 Republican candidate for — and winner of — the office of Illinois Attorney General.)

WORLD NET DAILY

  • What ails GOP? It’s not the dying white race Alan Keyes indicts ‘quisling’ leadership for abandoning founding principles6

(DIERSEN: GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham says that his party is “in a demographic death spiral … and the only way we can get back in good graces with the Hispanic community, in my view, is pass comprehensive immigration reform.” Pat Buchanan recently made the same point in more explicitly racialist terms: “[T]he existential crisis of the GOP … is demography. … ‘White Numbers Shrink,’ was the headline on the lead story in USA Today. ‘More Whites Dying than being born,’ blared the Wall Street Journal. … The demographic winter of white America is at hand.” The Graham/Buchanan explanation for the GOP’s imminent demise seems to confirm the notion that the GOP’s political strength depends on a racial imperative. Of course, uncharitable people (like their putative opponents among the Democrats) will surely put this in a more derogatory way. They will say that it proves what they have been saying all along: The GOP is the political vehicle of white racists, desperately trying to preserve white supremacy. However that may be, if the GOP’s future depends on racial demographics, many people will agree with Ann Coulter. She says that it’s stupid for pro-amnesty sellouts like Graham to devote “all their energy to slightly increasing their share of the Hispanic vote while alienating everyone else in America.” The elitist faction’s immigration scheme will put millions of illegally imported Hispanics on a conveyor belt to citizenship. Won’t this speed up the day when non-white Americans constitute a majority of the American electorate? But here’s where the shoe pinches. Are Hispanics non-whites? Last time I checked the map, Spain is a part of Europe. In South Africa, in the heyday of the apartheid system, “European” and “white” were interchangeable terms. So why does the fact that someone in the Western Hemisphere speaks a dialect of the Spanish language nullify their “white” racial heritage? Could the use (or is it abuse?) of “Hispanic” as a racial designation be a linguistic camouflage? For social and political purposes, doesn’t it allow many Hispanics who are actually whites to pass for non-whites? In terms of “demographic” politics, this would make for a fifth column of white influence among the non-white population. If they think that demographics rule over all, this might explain why some people in both wings of the elitist faction are pushing for a system that subsidizes the rapid expansion of the Hispanic population in the U.S. While you’re thinking about this it would be wise to remember that in Latin and South America, as in Southern Africa, politics is a mixed drink, laced with racial ingredients and generously spiced with explicit racism. Doesn’t the experience of countries like Mexico and Argentina justify the conclusion that powerful European interests may dominate the resultant flavor profile of that political cocktail, as the food critics would say? Aren’t some Latin and South American countries examples of elitist-manipulated herd democracy, in which different wings of a racially tinged elitist faction alternate in control of a more or less dictatorial government administration? These days it’s fairly obvious that both the Democrats and the Republicans include a powerful contingent working to force America down such a path. Some might say that their agenda is “racist,” but this misses the point. Whether we see it in terms of race, ethnicity, language or economic status, their agenda aims to divide and subdue the people. It aims to substitute the rule of a self-selecting elitist faction for government of, by and for the people. It aims fraudulently to elect figureheads who serve that faction, in place of officials chosen because they are dedicated to serving the common good of the American people. The Republican Party was founded at a time when the shared identity of the American people was being tested against the moral ideas of God-endowed equality and right on which their country was founded. Because they reflect a true moral vision of our common humanity, these ideas transcend the material divisions of race, ethnicity, language and wealth. They allow people to measure themselves in terms of their commitment to God-endowed right and justice, not only for themselves but for all those who put that commitment into action. It’s bitterly tragic that agents of the elitist faction are now incontestably in control of both entrenched political parties. It’s especially lamentable that the Republican Party is now dominated by forces blinded by scientific materialism; unwilling or unable to combat the deadly advance of irrational moral relativism; and incompetent to articulate, or reluctant to apply, the moral principles and ideas of America’s founding. Those principles and ideas convey a prudent wisdom exactly suited to repel the grave threats and seize the great opportunities that challenge America’s vigorous spirit in our times. But instead of speaking for Americans who share that spirit, the GOP’s quisling leadership is hell-bent on negotiating terms of surrender. They are negotiating the surrender of our economic strength, abetting wild spending, massive indebtedness and the government bid to take over our health sector. On the specious excuse of insuring our national security, they are abetting the NSA’s attack on our liberty, an attack that stupidly, dangerously, undermines the public trust our national security requires. Yet these GOP quislings are not adamant to defend our right to keep and bear arms. They will not propose policies based on the Second Amendment’s recognition of our commitment, as individual members of a well-regulated militia, to hold ourselves in readiness to defend our communities and our country. The GOP’s quisling leadership will not fight for a fair tax system, one that isn’t predicated on the abrogation of our constitutional immunity from self-incrimination. Instead, they effectually do nothing while the IRS attacks our freedom of speech and of the press, as well as the right peaceably to assemble, rights essential for us as we organize to fulfill our moral and constitutional duties as citizens. Now the GOP quislings are maneuvering to join the Democrats in subverting our national identity, by means of a foreign invasion (illegal immigration) administered and financed by the government that is supposed to serve and represent that identity. The GOP isn’t headed for destruction because it represents a dwindling number of white people. It’s because too many Republicans refuse to see and represent the swelling ranks of all kinds of people in America fervently committed to our nation’s successful implementation of decent liberty. We feel deeply connected to those in previous generations who lived, or gave their lives, to vindicate the premises of God-endowed right and responsible self-government. We are filled with grief, resentment and righteous anger against the treacherous false partisans, Democrat or Republican, who are determined to abandon and betray those premises. Whatever our race, whatever our linguistic or ethnic heritage, whatever the differences that seem to divide us from one another, we stand on the common ground of our determination to live as decent, free Americans and to pass on that way of life to our posterity. We need, and should only support, a party that represents this determination. If parties that refuse to do so fade away, good riddance.)

AMERICAN THINKER

  • Amnesty: Danger, Danger, Will Robinson! Calling All Tea Partiers! – Lloyd Marcus8

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Brother and sister patriots, this is it. This is the big one. If we lose this battle, it is game over unless God intervenes. America as founded will be over. Democrats and socialist/progressives will rule forever. Therefore, this is the Tea Party issue of our times. I am talking about the passing of the Amnesty Bill. The reason and urgency to pass amnesty are rooted in a big fat lie. Democrats and their cohorts in the mainstream media have convinced Republicans that Hispanics hate them. The Democrats’ and MSM’s tag-team lie is if Republicans do not pass amnesty, the Republican Party is over. Folks, the truth is the polar opposite. Amnesty for over 12 million illegals will usher in the end of the Republican Party, create mega-millions of new democrat voters, and secure a new socialist/progressive America. Alcoholics Anonymous defines insanity as doing the same things over and over again and expecting a different result. Back in 1986, the government granted amnesty to 3 million illegals. In exchange, the government promised to secure the border. They said this would fix the illegal immigration problem. They never secured the border. So now we have not just 3 million, but over 12 million illegals. The federal government lied to us back then, and they are lying to us today. Talk about déjà vu all over again: it is horrifyingly clear that the Judases selling us this crock-of-excrement bill know that border security ain’t happenin’ this time around, either. The betrayal by our Republican leaders of you good folks — decent, hardworking Americans — truly angers and sickens me. We need to hold their feet to the fire — be relentless, extremely annoying thorns in their sides and force the Republicans to say no to amnesty. Also, I was shocked upon discovering this tidbit of U.S. history. Republicans owned California before the granting of amnesty in 1986. Today, California is owned by the Democrats and far leftists. So why would the Republicans expect a different result this time around? Sadly, we are being played and betrayed from all sides. Republicans, Democrats, so-called conservatives, and libertarians are working together, selling out our country for various selfish reasons. Judas sold out Jesus for thirty pieces of silver, Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of beans, and many political leaders who pledged loyalty to the Tea Party (We The People) have sold us out for frivolous rewards in D.C. I am talking high school nonsense such as a desire to be liked by certain powerful people, praise from the mainstream media, and invites to A-list Washington, D.C. parties. Yes, folks, their reasons for betraying us are just that simple, absurd, and disgusting. Remember the passion you felt fighting ObamaCare? That passion must be rekindled to fight the Amnesty Bill. Republicans have proven that they cannot be trusted to do right by us or the country. Thus, they must be forced to do the right thing — to say “h—no!” to this insanity. Flood your representatives with calls and e-mails. It is time to rally like never before. We must rally in numbers so huge that Republicans cannot ignore our extreme displeasure with their planned amnesty. While maintaining the dignity and the peaceful and lawful behavior characteristic of our Tea Party movement, we must force politicians to experience the full force of We The People at work. During his interview on Rush’s radio show, Ted Cruz explained why the Amnesty Bill is a disaster, why it is amnesty, and why it must be stopped. And by the way, thank God for freshman Senator Ted Cruz. Cruz is one of us folks: a real-deal, America-lovin’ conservative with character and backbone. I hereby send out a clarion call to the Tea Party. Sound the alarm. Soylent Green is people! The Gang of Eight Bill is AMNESTY! Break out your American flags and homemade signs. Singers and songwriters, start freshening up your vocal chops. Speakers, start fine tuning your speeches. It is time to Tea Party across America again. If we do not peacefully, but firmly, raise holy h— and amnesty is passed, America as we know and love it is over. Patriots, we have fought too long and hard to lose our country. See y’all at the rallies!)
